What a difference a week makes!!
My first butterfly shot of the year and my first every sighting of an Orange Tip Butterfly. I had nearly finished up for the morning and was walking back to the car when I noticed this butterfly warming itself in the early morning sun perched on the end of what I think was the stem of cowslip.
Signs of spring, which means it’s time for me to dust off the Macro lenses and get outdoors. There is not much in the way of insects about to capture at the moment, so i had to settle for some wildflowers in the early morning sun.
I really enjoy photographing butterflies. Not only because they are relatively easy to find. I also find butterflies to be one of the most delicate and attractive insects.
The first two images are both of the Short Tailed Blue Butterfly. Which after a bit of research is apparently quite a rare find in the Würzburg region.
The following two are both of the more Common, Common Blue Butterfly.
